A NOBLE GESTURE: A child being helped with an artificial limb by former Minister A.M. Hindasageri at a function to distribute aids to disabled persons as part of Mahavir Jayanti celebrations in Hubli on Saturday.
HUBLI: A large number of people took part in colourful processions that were taken out in the twin cities as part of the Mahavir Jayanti celebrations on Saturday. In Hubli, two processions were taken out.
Tableaux
Some organisations took out a procession of tableaux depicting mythological and historical incidents. A portrait of Bhagwan Mahavir was taken out in a procession in the city.
Puja
As the procession passed through some important roads, women offered puja to the portrait. At Durgadabail Circle, artificial limbs were distributed to the needy by the Jain Youth Federation. Chairman of the Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority Lingaraj Patil, former Minister A.M. Hindasageri and founder president of the Jain Youth Federation Mahendra Singhi distributed artificial limbs to disabled persons. In Dharwad, a colourful procession was taken out to mark the occasion in which a large number of people from villages near the city participated.
