PALAKKAD: Minister for Electricity A.K. Balan has said the implementation of the Rs.441-crore rural electrification scheme, being implemented by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in the State, will start in April. He said the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) had entered into an agreement with the NTPC to implement the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme funded by the Central Government. The first district selected under the scheme was Palakkad where Rs.28 crore would be spent to take electricity to rural and remote areas. The Minister said since the scheme was under implementation in Idukki district the project would be implemented in all the other 13 districts of the State in two years.
