HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to organise a "Chalo Delhi" programme of its cadres from Telangana districts to submit a memorandum to President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam as part of a five-point action plan to intensify the agitation in the next three months for bifurcation of the State. This decision was taken at a meeting of the BJP Telangana Udyama Committee at the party headquarters here on Saturday and attended by functionaries from the region. Later, former Union Minister and president of the committee, Ch.Vidyasagar Rao, told reporters that cadres from all Telangana districts would go by a special train to Delhi to impress upon Dr.Kalam to direct the UPA Government to implement the promise which was made in his speech on Telangana. As part of the plan, district to State-level conventions would be held. A meeting of intellectuals would also be convened and steps initiated to bring all the cultural bodies from the region on a single platform. Finally, a "jail bharo" programme would be organised. He said the plan was aimed at pressuring Congress to introduce a bill in Parliament for bifurcating the State as the party captured power in the State on the plank of Telangana. He said the BJP wants the Telangana issue to be resolved before the 2009 Assembly elections so that no political party would try to use it as a "trump card' in the polls.
