TAKING STOCK: Collector M. Dana Kishore interacting with villagers at Mudumala in C. Belagal mandal of Kurnool district.
KURNOOL: Collector M. Dana Kishore has promised the residents of Mudumala of sanctioning funds for constructing drains in the village provided they enrol all children in school next year. Mr. Kishore accompanied by a group of officers stayed at Mudumala village under C. Belagal mandal, 40 km from here, on Friday night discussing the problems in the village. The villagers told the Collector that drainage was a serious problem and asked for a special grant to construct drains. He promised to sanction the amount but asked the villagers whether they would be able to enrol all children in school by next year. The villagers agreed to do it. A residential bridge school would be opened in the village to accommodate those children who missed regular school. C. Belagal mandal, though close to the district headquarters, was lagging behind on the human development index due to various factors. The Collector walked through the village and camped at the village school where he interacted with members of women groups, elected representatives of village bodies and village elders.
Selected village
Mr. Kishore told them that Mudumala was one of the 22 villages in the district selected for financial inclusion scheme under which private loans would be swapped for a single low-cost loan from the bank. An amount of Rs. 16 lakhs would be released for clearing private loans in the village. The village would receive a package of Rs. 60 lakhs under the scheme. The villagers urged the Collector to use his good offices for sanction of a high school. ZPTC member Venkatrami Reddy, DWMA Project Director P. Wilsonbabu, RDO Sasi Devi, DPEP were present.
