Threats will not cow me, says L.C. Jain

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Reacting to Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa's threat to sue him for "false statements" on the implementation of the State Budget for 2006-07, the former Planning Commission member L.C. Jain said, "Let them provide the right facts and I am willing to admit I was wrong, on the floor of the House."

Mr. Jain said he was glad the Government was keen on "maintaining its prestige." He said he had audit reports of funds allocated to anti-poverty programmes being diverted for other purposes. "We are not kids who were born yesterday."

Mr. Jain said he would not be cowed by threats. "If it is an intimidation tactic, I am sorry. I am made of sterner stuff."
