PM condoles death of Swami Gokulanandaji

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condoled the death of Swami Gokulanandaji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission here.

In his message, Dr. Singh said he learnt of the passing of Swami Gokulanandaji with profound sadness.

Stating that he had the privilege of knowing Swami Gokulanandaji during his tenure at the Delhi centre of Ramakrishna Mission, the Prime Minister said: "He was a great teacher and scholar and endeared himself to thousands of followers through his wisdom and compassion. He will be truly missed. I hope the Ramakrishna Mission will seek inspiration from his legacy and continue the good work he was doing."

Rajasthan Foundation Day celebrated

NEW DELHI: To mark Rajasthan Foundation Day, a function showcasing a musical concert to highlight Thar culture was held at Asiad Tower Complex on August Kranti Marg here over the weekend.

Sponsored by the Rajasthan Department of Tourism, the function featured folk artistes in traditional costume combining musical instruments like matka, morchang, algonza, dholak, shehnai and harmonium with poetry and singing.

Make CBI report public: AISA

NEW DELHI: The All-India Students' Association (AISA) on Saturday demanded that the investigation report of the Central Bureau of Investigation pertaining to murder of AISA leader Chandrashekhar in Siwan on March 31, 1997, be made public.

AISA general secretary Ravi Rai told media persons that several students' unions across the country were agitated over the issue.

Traffic restrictions today

NEW DELHI: Elaborate traffic arrangements have been made in view of a Markazi Anjuman Eed-e-milad Ul Nabi procession here on Sunday.

Setting out at 11-30 a.m. from Bara Hindu Rao, the procession would pass by Pahari Dhiraj, Bara Tooti Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Qutab Road, Lahori Gate, Khari Baoli, Masjid Fatehpuri, Katra Baryan, Farash Khana, Lal Kuan, Kauz Qazi and Chawri Bazar and culminate at Jama Masjid.

Another religious procession on the occasion of Palm Sunday would be taken out from St. Michael's Church at 3-30 p.m. It would pass by Dev Nagar, Karol Bagh, Arya Samaj Road, Ganga Mandir Marg, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Ajmal Khan Park, Filmistan, Rani Jhansi Road, DCM Chowk, Azad Market, Bara Hindu Rao, Baraf Khana Chowk and terminate at No. 1 Butler Road, Christ Methodist Church.
