NEW DELHI: Five persons allegedly running betting rackets on the one-day international cricket match between England and Ireland were arrested in different parts of the Capital over the weekend. Ramesh, Anil Ahuja and their domestic help Umesh were arrested at Dwarka when they were allegedly accepting bets. Police claimed to have recovered from them eight mobile phones, a laptop and 10 registers bearing details of the betting amount of about Rs. 8 lakh. In another raid at Hari Nagar, the police arrested Narender, a caterer by profession, and Harinder, who runs an STD booth. A television set, three mobile phones and two ledgers were recovered from them. The accused had allegedly received calls for stake money totalling about Rs. 6 lakh from their clients.
