Chennai : A flying team from Palakkad-based Adventure Inc. dazzled visitors with its paramotoring skills at Elliots Beach on Friday. Chief Flying Instructor A. M. Sunil demonstrated his gliding skills before Director-General of Police D. Mukherjee and Chennai Police Commissioner Letika Saran. He said the police force could use the paramotor, a powered glider that can be manned by an individual for an aerial surveillance. "Adventure Inc. has offered to provide training assistance in paramotoring for the police," Mr. Sunil said. Pilots A.M. Salim and A. S. Dileep were part of the flying team that had come to Chennai. A running start is all that is required for a paramotor to take off. It can fly non-stop for three-and-half hours on 10 litres of petrol. It can cover up to 150 km in one trip if the wind speed is below 18 km per hour. Paramotors are also used for wildlife spotting, aerial photography, plantation visits and hobby flying.
