Baby rescued from `abductor'

An 18-month-old boy Ghouse Pasha was rescued by locals when he was being allegedly abducted by a painter Shivaiah at L.B. Nagar of Bowenpally on Saturday. Son of a goldsmith, the boy was loitering before his house around 9.30 a.m. when Shivaiah, living in the same locality, kidnapped the boy while the latter's mother Rehana was inside the house, the police said. "Shivaiah was drunk and could not explain where he was taking the boy," Bowenpally Sub-Inspector M.B. Sridhar said.

Gold chains recovered

City Police on Saturday recovered gold chains weighing 140 grams with the arrest of a youngster Harish Dalla Guptha at Sultanbazar crossroads. The youth was caught while trying to dispose of a chain.

Businessman robbed of Rs. 4 lakhs, laptop

A gang took away a bag containing Rs. 4 lakhs and a laptop by distracting attention of a businessman's car driver at Digital Shoppy's Somajiguda branch on Saturday. The businessman was G. Sreenivasa Raju of Seethaphalmandi.

Commits suicide

A degree student G. Nagamani, 19, committed suicide by hanging in her house at Visweswaranagar of Karvan on Thursday night, the Tappachabutra police said. The girl was studying in Vanitha Degree College. Police said motive behind her death was yet to be ascertained.

Tipper runs over two workers

Two construction workers -- K. Ramulu and Ramu -- sleeping at their work site were crushed to death and another person Nagaraju was seriously injured, when a tipper ran over them in Jubilee Hills in the early hours of Saturday.
