HYDERABAD: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) here will fix a specific time frame for all services provided by it to the applicants, with effect from April 2. The specified dates will be indicated at the time of registration of applications in the office.
Online registration
B. Bala Bhaskar, Passport Officer, told a press conference here on Saturday that fresh passports would be issued between 18 and 23 days, subject to receipt of police verification report. Services under Tatkal would be made available in four to five days, miscellaneous services in three days and passport renewal in five to ten days. The office would introduce on April 10 online registration and transfer to RPO of applications received at eSeva centres of Khairatabad, S.R. Nagar, Santoshnagar and Nallakunta. The applications were now being accepted in 100 post offices all over the State which were processing 2,000 applications daily. The RPO was planning to set up an eSeva centre in the old city to enable residents to submit their applications.
At SP offices
People from districts could now submit their passport applications at the respective SP offices. These applications would be sent to RPO along with police verification reports. "Thus, we can reduce two weeks' time in transfer of applications," Mr. Bhaskar explained.
Verification certificate
The list of officials who could issue verification certificates under the Tatkal scheme has been widened by including MROs, Station House Officers in addition to those from the all-India services and allied services drawing the scale of Rs.10,000-15,200, irrespective of their position. Officials of the rank of Colonel and above could also issue verification certificates. From April 2, the number of tokens under the Tatkal scheme would be increased to 180.
