Milad-I-Sherif observed

Thiruvananthapuram: Peace meetings, rallies, cultural events and free food for the poor marked the observation of Milad-I-Sherif, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, in the city on Saturday.

The District Milad-I-Sherif Committee organised rallies at Kesavadasapuram, Kumarapuram, Kazhakuttam and Attingal.

A meeting was held in the city to celebrate the day. N. Ahmed Pillai inaugurated the meeting. Kazhakuttam Najmuddin presided. Similar meetings were organised at Attingal, Nedumangad, Neyyattinkara and Kazhakuttam.

The Islamic Peace Movement of India observed Milad-I-Sherif as World Brotherhood Day. State president of the organisation Kazhakuttam Najmuddin inaugurated a meeting held in this connection. Sirajuddin Koya Thangal presided. National Ulema Conference chairman Mufti Syed Arif Rabbani Chikmangalur inaugurated a state- wide brotherhood campaign launched by the Islamic Peace Movement of India here.
