One killed, 21 hurt in various accidents

TIRUNELVELI: Eleven persons were injured in a road accident near here on Sunday.

Police said Jayapandi (58) of Srivilliputhur and his family members were going to Tiruchendur in a car.

When the car reached Rastha, near here, the car dashed against a culvert, injuring 11 occupants in the vehicle.

The Fire and Rescue Services personnel rescued the victims and admitted them to a hospital.

In another mishap, ten women, all workers of a textile mill near Sankarankovil, were injured when the van carrying them overturned.

The injured women have been admitted to the Sankarankovil Government Hospital.

In yet another accident, K. Parvathi (38) of Anaithalaiyoor sustained grievous injuries when an autorickshaw, in which she was travelling, overturned at Gangaikondan. She succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
