State leaders will have a vital say: Moily
Staff Reporter
KASARAGOD:
Any move by the Congress leadership to pave the way for the return of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader K. Karunakaran to the party will be initiated only after consultation with leaders of the State unit of the party, said Congress Working Committee member in charge of Kerala Veerappa Moily here on Sunday.
Talking to The Hindu on the sidelines of a special convention of the Kasaragod District Congress Committee (DCC), Mr. Moily said there had not been any such consultations. "I do not think the time is ripe for such consultations," he said.
Mr. Moily said Mr. Karunakaran was a senior leader with decades of experience at various levels in the Congress. "The Congress did not send him out of the party; he left on his own," he said.
Mr. Moily said the Congress was a broad-based party with broad-minded policies. However, nobody should think that he/she could walk out of the party at will and walk in when they want, he added.
Everybody in the party should follow its discipline, Mr. Moily said.
