ST. JOHN'S: Australia all-rounder Shane Watson, who left the field against Bangladesh on Saturday with a calf strain, has been told to rest for up to six days before next weekend's World Cup match against England. Australia media manager Phil Pope said on Sunday that Watson had undergone a scan, which would be studied in Melbourne. "He has been advised to rest for five or six days. He will undergo rehabilitation work with (physiotherapist) Alex Kountouris,'' said Pope.
CA to investigate
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia's medical staff will investigate whether the all-rounder's `muscle bulk' was making him prone to frequent breakdowns. CA feels Watson's injury woes are threatening his place in the side and an urgent review of his training was needed after the World Cup ends this month. "We've got to sit down and think about him in general. That's probably going to happen at the end of the season," Kountouris was quoted as saying in the Sydney Morning Herald. "But say if we were concerned about his muscle bulk, then there's only a little bit you can do about it,'' he added. Agencies
