Bangalore: Okay, you have not climbed Mount Everest five times nor has your wardrobe malfunctioned at the right moment. So nobody would want to write about you, right?

Wrong. There is one man who is keen on writing biographies of people like you and me. M.S.C. Rao, a retired banker who also runs the Paint Box Art Gallery in

Jayanagar, will write your biography if you want to be preserved for posterity. It is his passion to do so because "we should not live and die like animals. When we have the capacity to record everything, we should use technology and document our lives. And we should also have a small library of our forefathers' history." So has he written his own biography? "Yes I have. It is like leaving behind a small legacy for our grandchildren."

The democrat he is, the title of the biography remains the same — My Life, One life, One Record — for everyone, says this accountant whose venture is called The Biographers' Company.

Till date Mr. Rao has 22 biographies in different stages of completion while four have been delivered.

Once he gets a request to make a biography, he spends three hours documenting the spoken word and a two-hour video that is later edited to a half-hour DVD.

How does it feel getting to know intimate feelings of so many people? "Initially I used to be very disturbed. But now I am like a doctor who listens and tries not to get too personally involved. Instead I help the other person unearth his past," explains Mr. Rao, who takes three months to complete an assignment. And yes, he assures total confidentiality.
