10 crores each for 3 IIITs

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy sanctioned Rs.10 crores each to the three new IIITs being set up at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, Basar in Adilabad and Nuzvid in Krishna on Monday.

He was reviewing the status of the new universities and 21st Century Gurukulams (Government sponsored) on Monday morning. He directed the Finance Department to release the money to the IIIT centres this academic year.

He suggested that the 21st Century Gurukulam proposed for Basar be shifted to some other place in Adilabad district since a new IIIT would be established there.

The proposed Telangana University at Nizamabad would have 577 acres of land and the one at Nalgonda, 100 acres. The Nalgonda Collector had been asked to hand over the land for the construction of buildings. The remaining land would be acquired soon.

He said funds would not be a problem for the completion of the infrastructure.
