THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet will decide on a number of steps on Tuesday to prevent the strike by lorry owners disrupting the supply of essential commodities in the State, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran and Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas, said here on Monday. Talking to mediapersons after a high-level meeting of officials convened to discuss the situation following the strike, the Ministers said that the Cabinet would even consider legislative measures, if required. They said that the Government was taking all possible steps to prevent disruption in the supply of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, milk and other essential commodities. Police protection would be accorded to lorries arriving with goods from other States. Chief Secretary Lizzie Jacob had already contacted her Tamil Nadu counterpart. Civil Supplies Corporation outlets would function on all days.
