TI's seed funding for IISc.

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The research and product development centre of Texas Instruments (TI) here will remain focussed on digital signal processing (DSP) and analogue technologies, both with increasing applications.

"Among the applications we see for customers globally and in India are chipsets with upto one GB speed, ultra low-power DSPs, high resolution and more portable medical diagnostic equipment, devices for automobiles and for video compression," President and CEO of Texas Instruments Inc., Richard K. Templeton, said addressing a press conference here on Monday.

Mr. Templeton earlier visited the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) to announce the seed funding of $400,000 over five years. S. Balakrishnan, who leads the Supercomputers team at IISc., said "Some of our research will be open-ended and in the public domain, others taken up specifically for TI will vest with them".
