BERHAMPUR : The two-day annual festival at the Alakh Jyoti temple at Ambapua on the outskirts of the city concluded on Tuesday morning. This temple of Mahima sect situated on a hillock was established more than 150 years back. Avdhuts, sanyasis, brahamacharis of the sect as well as its householder followers attended this day festival of spiritual sadhana. According to Sadhu Jayaram Das of the temple, this festival is conducted every year on the days of Chaturdasi and Purnima in the month of Chaitra.Followers of Mahima sect from all over south Orissa and its Sadhus from all over the state attend this festival. The rituals during these two days include chanting of the Akhand Brahma Mantra, worship of Brahma Jyoti. Bhajans of great poets of the Bhakti era and the Mahima cult.
