Mudhol remembered

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: The contributions of labour leader A.J. Mudhol who had actively taken part in the Goa Liberation movement were remembered here during a function held to observe his sixth death anniversary.

S.S. Shettar, who worked as a corporation council member along with Mr. Mudhol, inaugurated the function here on Saturday. Mr. Shettar said although Mr. Mudhol was a Communist Party member, he never hesitated to support the stand taken by other political parties when he found that they were right.

Mr. Mudhol led agitations that never ended with compromises. He always fought for a cause till the end, Mr. Shettar recalled. Former Minister A.M. Hindasageri, recalled the fight of A.J. Mudhol for the labourers belonging to the unorganised sector such as beedi workers, autorickshaw drivers and porters.

Sri Chandrashekhar Swami of Hosa Math, former mayors of Hubli-Dharwad Prakash Kyarakatti and Anilkumar Patil spoke.
