Staff Reporter

Concern over teachers' `miserable failing'

Rajahmundry: Kamal Singh, Convenor of the University Grants Commission team, has opined that the present day education should be student-centric and expressed dissatisfaction over the teacher's `miserable failing' in rendering whatever they have vowed. She said state universities had mainly failed in this aspect compared to Central universities and IITs.

Addressing teaching faculty of Government Arts College (Autonomous) here on Tuesday after conducting inspection to extend autonomous status till 2013 to the college, she said students had no choice in selecting, opting their subjects of their own. She advocated that teachers should not shirk responsibility to parents with regard to taking academic care of the student and opined that the county needed analytical society.

Dr. Singh said the present day education system was making students monotonous and research and development had totally vanished from colleges and universities. "Education has to undergo revolutionary changes. Backdoor entry system should be stopped," she emphasised.
