LUCKNOW: A party formed by a group of ex-IITians has witnessed a vertical split ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The Lok Paritran Party (LPP) formed by ex-IITians in 2005 has split and a Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD) has been formed by the splinter group and two are all set to come face-to-face in the ensuing electoral battle. Terming formation of BPD as ``unfortunate and a part of political conspiracy'', LPP officer- bearers on Tuesday said their party would contest Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in fifth, sixth and seventh phase with full strength. ``We will contest the elections in the fifth, sixth and seventh phases in UP despite contemptuous act of spreading rumours against the party by some former party members, who have formed BPD,'' national president L P Tanmay Rajpurohit told repoters here. Rajporohit alleged that BPD, formed by some ex-IIT Kanpur students recently was misguiding media as well as innocent party supporters.
Supporters
Members of BPD working committee have illegitimately held the ownership of LPP's online community on Orkut, where the number of party supporters are more than 10,500, he claimed. He said LPP, which was founded in 2005 and became a registered political party in February 2006, had got a tremendous response in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Elections
The LPP is finalising candidates of Lucknow and Allahabad in next few days, he said. BPD had already announced to contest elections in Kanpur and Lucknow.- PTI
