GRACEFUL: It was the passing out-cum-attestation parade of 230 recruit constables of BSF on Tuesday.
BANGALORE: For the 230 recruit constables of the Border Security Force (BSF), Tuesday was a special day to remember. It was their passing out-cum-attestation parade. They took part with élan at the parade at Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) BSF, on Bellary Road, Yelahanka. They marched with confidence as Director General of Police of the Corps of Detectives (CoD), Ajai Kumar Singh reviewed the parade. He lauded the recruit constables and the staff of STC for the smart turnout and impressive drill movements. Many high-ranking officers of the armed forces and civil departments attended the function. Mr. Ajai Kumar Singh presented medals to constables who have excelled in various disciplines during their basic training. And now, something about BSF. Since its inception in 1965, the force has been contributing significantly in ensuring the nation's security and territorial integrity. "A versatile force, the BSF lives up to its operational philosophy of `Any Task Any Time Any Where' and its motto of `Duty Unto Death," said a BSF officer. In relentless operations against secessionist elements in Kashmir, BSF personnel have been bearing the brunt of combat operations. In encounter battles since 1990, 1,342 BSF personnel had lost their lives and 5,419 suffered grievous injuries.
