Exams postponed

HYDERABAD: Osmania University has postponed the annual examinations scheduled on April 4, in view of the bandh call given by various organisations on Wednesday. The new date for the postponed examinations would be announced later. Similarly, the contact classes for MA and M.Com courses at the Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University scheduled on April 4 have also been postponed. Classes for the remaining days would be conducted as usual, according to a press release.

Government holidays

HYDERABAD: The Government has notified April 5 and April 14 as holidays on account of the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar respectively, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, in addition to the holidays already declared, as a special case. This was done in partial modification of the orders issued on November 6, 2006, listing holidays under the NI Act for the calendar year 2007. — Special Correspondent

EAMCET hall-tickets available online

HYDERABAD: Hall-tickets of EAMCET-2007 would be made available at all the 21 regional centres from April 5 to 11 while candidates in Hyderabad and Secunderabad can obtain them from the office of the Convenor, EAMCET-2007 office, JNTU campus, Kukatpally.

Hall-tickets will also be available on the website www.eamcet2007.org. Candidates can download it and get it attested by a gazetted officer. — Staff Reporter

LAWCET applications

HYDERABAD: LAWCET-07 Convenor on Tuesday informed the last date for receipt of filled in application forms for the examination was April 9. Forms are available at head post offices and eSeva centres. The examination will be held on May 27. — Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services Ltd has been awarded the first rank in two categories in the `2007 Investor relations global ranking' by MZ Consult. Navodaya entrance test

Kakinada: Entrance test for admission into class IX in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Peddapuram, for the academic session 2007-08 will be held at 10 a.m. on June 10, according to N S Reddy, principal. He said the medium of language for the exam would be English and Hindi and the test consisted of Mathematics, general science, English and Hindi. He said applications should reach the principal before May 4. - Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Indiscipline among partymen was the reason for the TDP's defeat in the elections, said party polit bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju at a "face-to-face" meeting with party leaders and cadre in the second and third wards in the town on Tuesday. He appealed to partymen to learn lessons from the past. Srikakulam: A trauma care unit has been sanctioned for treatment of injuries and related ailments at the Government headquarters hospital. The cost of the unit is Rs.56 lakhs. District Collector V. Man killed

Srikakulam: Challa Fakir (75) of Karavanja village in Kotabommali mandal was killed allegedly by his own son, Rama Rao, when the latter attacked him near a bus shelter. According to the police, a dispute over property was the reason for the attack. Rama Rao was stated to be in an inebriated condition at the time. - Special Correspondent

SRIKAKULAM: The executive committee meeting of the District Congress Committee will be held at Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao's camp office here on Monday.
