GULBARGA: The General Manager of Central Railways R.K. Kaul has agreed to consider the demand for the introduction of a new night train between Solapur and Bangalore, and for conversion of the Bijapur-Yeshwantpur Express, which currently runs thrice a week, into a daily train. K.B. Shanappa, Rajya Sabha MP, who participated in a high-level meeting of Central Railway officials, and MPs and legislators from Maharashtra, in Solapur on Monday, told The Hindu here on Tuesday that he had raised several proposals for improvement of railway services in the region, including the introduction of a new Solapur-Bangalore train in order to reduce the rush of passengers travelling by Udhyan Express between Mumbai and Bangalore.
Study
He said Mr. Kaul had agreed to conduct an economic feasibility study on the proposal for the new train at the earliest. Mr. Shanappa said the Central Railways was also considering introduction of an express between Solapur and Hyderabad, which would pass through Gulbarga, and a decision in this regard would be announced shortly.
