Sanskrit Vedike launched in Hassan

Staff Correspondent

`Sanskrit is very simple to learn and can be computerised'

HASSAN: Child specialist (Bala Roga Tagne) from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Ayurveda College in Hassan U. Shailaja described Sanskrit as the oldest language and the foundation for all other languages. She was inaugurating the Sanskrit Vedike in Government Arts College in Hassan on Tuesday.

Dr. Shailaja regretted that we were forgetting our language and culture to embrace foreign culture. Today, Sanskrit was taught in foreign countries. For instance, in Afghanistan, learning Sanskrit was compulsory. She said Mutturu village in Shimoga district was a role model as people of this village spoke Sanskrit.

Principal professor T.N. Prabhakar presided over the function. Head of Sanskrit Department Veena H.N. and head of Hindi Department E. Nagaratna were present on the occasion.
