Two cases registered against the owner

HASSAN: Deputy Commissioner K.H. Aswathanarayana Gowda forwarded a complaint to the Hassan Town Police Station on Monday to take action against Rajasekhar, owner of a private Godown in Hassan. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies seized a large quantity of wheat, rice and sugar from the godown.

Hassan city circle inspector Girijesh said the Deputy Commissioner had forwarded a letter from the Deputy Director, Department of Food and Civil Supplies, to take action against the owner of the godown that had stocked food grains meant for public distribution. The letter had been treated as a complaint and detailed investigation had been taken up.

Mr. Girijesh said, the letter stated that on March 29, Department of Food and Civil Supplies with the help of police raided the godown and seized 524 rice bags each weighing 60 kg and 92 bags each weighing 50 kg. A raid was conducted on April 1 on another Godown owned by the same person and 21 quintals of sugar, 456 bags wheat (each containing 50 kg) and two bags of rice were seized.

Mr. Girijesh said the letter also stated that the owner of the godown was not cooperating with officials and was absconding. Police have registered two cases against the owner of the godown.
