COIMBATORE: Workers on strike at Pricol Limited here staged a picketing inside the campus and at the entrance of the company on Tuesday. Four striking women workers allegedly doused themselves with kerosene and threatened to commit suicide in a bid to resist arrest or eviction. According to police, "in a bid to clear the crowd of onlookers outside the factory premises and to ensure a smooth traffic flow a mild cane charge was resorted to." Talks to find a solution continued late into the evening. The workers have been on strike since March 5 demanding withdrawal of transfer orders issued to six of their colleagues. To solve the issue, seven rounds of talks were held between management and striking workers in the presence of the Joint Commissioner of Labour here and one more round in the presence of the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai.
