New Delhi: After winning accolades both in the country and outside for its speed in executing projects, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has now bagged its first international consultancy project. The Corporation, which takes pride in completing its projects ahead of schedule, will assists Indonesia in the construction of a Mass Rapid Transit System in Djakarta. Being described as a `major breakthrough', the international project will require the corporation to share its operational expertise. "The DMRC has expertise in the areas of construction as well as operation. For the Djakarta Metro, the DMRC will extend its support to study the operational feasibility, what operational system should be opted for, how many people should be employed and the maintenance of the chosen operational system," said Anuj Dayal, Chief Public Relations Officer of the DMRC.
Special study
Giving details of the international project, he said: "DMRC will conduct a SAPI Study for the Djakarta project along with a Japanese firm and an American company." This is the first time that a foreign country has chosen the Corporation and sought its expertise.
