Result of experimentation with different mediums

SYMBOLIC: Works by Balazs Simon and Ann Delorme on display.

The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre is now hosting an exhibition titled "Symbolic Shields of Life" displaying a series of wall sculptures that are a result of experimentation with different mediums at its Janpath premises here.

Pune-based Balazs Simon and Ann Delorme are the two artists whose works are being showcased at the exhibition that was inaugurated by eminent artist M. K. Puri.

`Dialogue'

Speaking about his works at the ongoing exhibition, Balazs says: "I carry on a dialogue with my medium. This results in a spiritual experience of sublime creativity which I experience. I like working in my studio in Pune city and I gain a great deal from my Indian experience. I bridge the gap between an ancient usage of copper art and the most modern forms of expression." Balazs has had exhibitions in several prestigious galleries across Europe.

Stating that she explores amorphous forms in her artistic works, Ann says: "A struggle exists and it is played out between the lines that capture oxidized patterns from the heat to which the plate is exposed evolving in the capturing empty space by my brush, a tongue of flames and my palette the spectrum of colours lying dormant in the copper plate. This method creates the art."

Ann says constant change takes place all around, surely and silently, for better or for worse. All this is captured in my illustrations on an epic scale of definite sequence.

The exhibition that was inaugurated on Monday is on view till April 13. Madhur Tankha
