Five Congress workers expelled

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma on Tuesday expelled five party workers from the primary membership of the party for anti-party activities during campaigning for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections.

The workers who have been expelled are Neeraj Khullar of Anarkali, Om Veer of Ghonda, Madan Lal of Bhajanpura, Neeraj Sharma of Azad Nagar and Arti Jain.

Showcasing print, animation projects

NEW DELHI: Apeejay Institute of Design (AID), Tughlakabad, hosted its annual graduate show, `Fifth Dimension', at its campus recently.

The event showcased the print and animation projects of the graduating students of Multimedia and Applied Arts. The students had put up a presentation of the research documents and design projects after a thorough study of the subject and their creative expressions and the design show gave them an opportunity to realise their creative potential.

"Blood pressure predictor of stroke"

NEW DELHI: Systolic upper blood pressure is an important predictor of stroke risk among men and women and across racial groups, president of Heart Care Foundation of India K.K. Aggarwal said on Tuesday quoting a study published in the March issue of American Journal of Hypertension.

The study found that increasing systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure were individually associated with an increased risk of fatal stroke.

81-year-old gets legal help from court

NEW DELHI: Moved by the poignant condition of a 81-year-old man who approached it repeatedly seeking redressal in a property dispute case, a Delhi criminal court has provided legal assistance to him despite not being the court where the suit was pending.

``Though the matter which Begraj (applicant) has narrated does not come under the jurisdiction of this court but seeing his pathetic condition, I deem it appropriate that he be provided legal assistance by Legal Aid Department,'' said Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjiv Jain.

Travel agents fined

NEW DELHI: The State Consumer Commission has asked two travel agent firms to jointly pay Rs. 50,000 compensation for misleading a man whose wife and minor son were refused permission to board a flight to Ujbekistan at Hong Kong airport and were deported to India for lack of visa.
