Discussion to be held

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A comprehensive discussion on the structure and activities of the State Higher Education Council will be conducted.

This was decided at the first working committee meeting of the council presided over by K.N. Panikker.

The council will hold discussion with all organisations and individuals willing to put forth their views regarding the council, apart from the representatives of teacher and student organisations and vice-chancellors. The points raised during the discussion will be codified and presented before the Government. It has also been decided to prepare a road-map regarding the activities of the council for the next four years.

The working committee expressed concern over the number of vacant post for teachers in universities and colleges. The council requested the Government to fill in all the vacancies on a permanent basis before the next academic year.
