Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chairman of Global Projects Pvt Ltd J. S. Juneja has advocated the need for enhanced budgetary allocations and extending financial assistance to upgrading the technology to propel activity of small and medium enterprises in the country.

Making a presentation on SMEs at a seminar organised by Hyderabad Management Association and Madras Management Association, in association with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, here on Tuesday, Juneja said that the SMEs had a business opportunity of US $ 356 billion by 2020. He said this was revealed by a study of All-India Management Association.

The `economic miracle' achieved by Germany in the post-World War-II period was attributed to the focus on SMEs by Member of German Parliament Michael Fuchs.

He said that 99.7 per cent of the 3.4 million business units in Germany were SMEs, which provide 70 per cent of industrial employment.
