Protesting AIYF activists caned

HYDERABAD: The police on Tuesday resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the youth affiliated to the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) when they tried to stage a protest in front of the Legislative Assembly when the joint session was on. Over a hundred youth led by AIYF State secretary G. Eshwaraiah took out a rally from the Osmania University campus demanding that the Government implement reservationfor OBCs.

The rally, which passed through Vidyanagar and other areas, reached the police control room and the youth tried to proceed towards the Assembly.

However, with the police preventing them, the activists' squatted there, raising slogans in support of the OBC quota.
