SAAP official in ACB net

Assets worth Rs. 70 lakhs unearthed

HYDERABAD:
Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday registered a case against Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Deputy Director G. Choudhary on charge of possessing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During searches at his residence in Srinagar colony, Hyderabad, and that of his father-in-law in West Godavari district, authorities unearthed assets worth over Rs. 70 lakhs owned by him.
ACB Joint Director C. Ravi Varma told The Hindu that Rs. 14.3 lakhs were seized from the officer's house.
Among the other assets owned by him include 23 acres of land in Guntur, 53 acres of land in Nellore, a house and an open plot in Hyderabad, Rs. 5 lakhs worth gold and silver articles and Rs. 2 lakhs worth household articles, he said. Mr. Choudhary would be produced before a special court here.
