Court seeks report on factory waste

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Monday directed that an officer not less than the rank of Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) shall be deputed by the Magistrate of Nizamabad to submit a report regarding the removal of pipes which carry effluents from the Nizam Sugar into Narsapur irrigation canals.

The Bench was dealing with writ petition regarding the discharge of effluents of the sugar factory into the irrigation canal.

During the course of arguments, the Bench was furious at the attitude of officer Hiralal Samaria who filed counter affidavit in a casual manner. The Bench termed the attitude of the officer as unfortunate. However, earlier correspondence revealed a letter written by the factory to Government authorities to the effect that the pipelines were being removed, as they were no longer required.

The Bench wanted the report on the fact of removal of pipelines to be submitted within 15 days.
