Power demand to fall

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The peak demand for power during the rabi season is expected to come to an end from April 15 leading to a corresponding fall in the requirement from the agriculture sector.

This will place the State in a relatively better position with respect to supply to other sectors. Reviewing power supply situation at the Secretariat on Tuesday with the CMDs of the AP Transco, AP Genco and the distribution companies, Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir noted that the demand hovered around 185 million units per day during March. He hoped that the Centre would provide at least 150 MW to the State out of the "unallocated share" from its generation stations to meet the shortage during the first fortnight of April when the demand was likely to go up.
