Kozhikode: The State committee of the Kerala Pedika-Vadaka Kudiyan Samrakshana Samiti has protested against the eviction of petty shop owners in the wake of a Supreme Court verdict. A convention of the organisation here on Wednesday demanded that the Government promulgate an ordinance to protect petty shop owners in the State. The former president of the Calicut Chamber of Commerce C.E. Chakkunny inaugurated the convention, State chairman C.M. Mathew presided over the inaugural session. State coordinator P.T.S. Unni and general convener Shabir Cheruvadi among others spoke.
