Players asked not to give statements

Rajkot: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday asked players to refrain from giving statements in the media and instead advised them to approach the BCCI to air their complaints.

``The players should not give media statements. Whatever their complaints are they should tell them to the Board which will be discussed by the members and an appropriate decision will be taken,'' BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told reporters here.

The BCCI official was reacting to the statement given by Sachin Tendulkar to a national daily hitting out at coach Greg Chappell for his supposed comments in the report he's to submit to the Board during the World Cup review meeting in Mumbai on April 6.

``All decisions taken at the meeting will be based on the (tour) reports to be submitted on the World Cup performance of the team by the manager (Sanjay Jagdale) and coach,'' he said. — PTI
