Orphanages, homes for destitutes to furnish details to social welfare office

COIMBATORE: Orphanages, homes for destitutes and old age homes should furnish details regarding themselves to the District Social Welfare Office, Coimbatore, by April 5.

These homes and orphanages should provide registration details along with a description of their activities, said C.Murugesan, Superintendent of the District Social Welfare Office.

"There are certain guidelines prescribed by the Government for such residential institutions. We will visit these homes to check if they abide by the expected standards," he said.

By giving the details to the Social Welfare Department, the homes could also seek help from the department as and when required, he added.
