Madurai: A majority of the Bar Associations in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court have decided to suspend court work on Thursday to urge the Centre to take immediate steps to vacate the interim stay, imposed by the Supreme Court, on 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in higher educational institutions, such as IITs and IIMs.
Court boycott
Advocates of the Madurai Bar Association (MBA) resorted to a one-day boycott, here on Wednesday, urging the Central and State governments to take immediate steps to vacate the Supreme Court stay on 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in IITs and IIMs. Led by the MBA secretary, A.K. Ramasamy, the advocates raised slogans against the stay and said the denial of reservation would render injustice to the OBCs.
