Corrections and Clarifications

In "The developmental challenge in rural India" (Editorial page, April 4, 2007), a sentence was "Self-Health Groups are examples of the new `social economy' emerging in India." It should have been "self-help groups".

A report "Rao a sanyasi in politics: Manmohan" (April 1, 2007) stated that P.V. Narasimha Rao was Prime Minister between 1992 and 1996. It should have been 1991 and 1996.

In a book review "Documentary on Gandhiji" ("Book Review" page, March 20, 2007), some missing sentences had readers perplexed. La. Su. Rengarajan, the reviewer, in response to a reference, clarifies that the passage in the original read: "Only very few (on the censor board) were nationalists. Any two members will have to see and approve the film before certification. But it was the prerogative of a middle-rung officer of the Board to decide who they are. Patriot he was, the officer selected K. Srinivasan, then Editor of The Hindu and Dr. V. Krishna Rao." The italicised portion was missing in the published version.
