COLOMBO: The military said security forces had uncovered a claymore mine weighing 12 kg, inside a building in Wattala, along the Negombo main road, here. According to the Wattala police, seven persons were taken into custody. One suspect was a resident of Jaffna who failed to prove his identity. The other were from two areas on the outskirts of the city. At least six civilians were killed in the north and east on Thursday. According to the Defence Ministry, four civilians on a lorry transporting paddy stocks were killed by alleged LTTE gunmen in the Sinhala-dominated Polonnaruwa district. It said 27 civilians were killed by the LTTE in three incidents since April 1.
