Dindigul drubs Sivagangai

Sivakasi: A brace each by Rajalingam and Muthuvel and one goal by M. Satheesh Kumar helped Dindigul District Football Association trounce Sivagangai District Football Association 5-0 in the 31st annual Vinothakumar memorial Trophy State-level football tournament, organised by AKP Sports Club, at the ANUA MHSS ground here on Thursday.

All the five goals came in the first session while Dindigul took it easy in the second.

Big win for High Court

At Madurai, High Court Football Club swamped Pandyan Saraswathy Yadava Engineering College 9-0 in the Madurai DFA `B' division league, for the Hi-Tech Arai Trophy, at the Don Bosco ground.

Regan Velangani scored three goals and Sethumathavan and Lenin a brace each. The other goal scorers were Jailson and Ravikumar.

27 players selected

As many as 27 players, out of the 101 who reported, have been picked from the trials held on April 3 and 4 to select the Tamil Nadu team for the National junior hockey championship to be held at Guntur from April 14 to 22.

The selected players are training at a camp organised by Madurai District Hockey Association. The coaches for the camp, which will end on April 12, are Vaman and John Paul.

P.M. Mannan, Deputy Mayor of Madurai Corporation, inaugurated the camp at Ellis Nagar hockey ground. The final list of 18 players will be announced on April 12. — Sports Correspondent
