VIJAYAWADA : The Women Empowerment Forum of K.B.N. College will be organising a 40-day free training camp for women at the Sri Raja Suraneni Venkata Papaiah Rao College of Education, Gandhi Nagar, from March 11. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, KBN College secretary and correspondent T. Srinivasu said the training courses were aimed at empowering women and helping them find self-employment.
Training areas
The training would be imparted in areas such as saree work, fabric painting, fashion designing, cell phone repairing, hand embroidery, beautician course, blouse and Punjabi dress cuttings and so on. In addition, training in spoken English would be a major attraction for the homemakers, he said. Mr. Srinivasu said the college had conducted a similar programme last summer on its campus in One Town, which received good response. The camp was being organised this time at Gandhi Nagar for the benefit of women residing in Satyanarayanapuram, Gandhi Nagar and nearby places.
Applications
A camp in One Town has already begun and more than 3,000 applications received, he said, adding that the figure would touch at least 5,000 in a couple of days. Candidates interested in joining any of the courses could contact 6452223 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for further details, he said. The KBN College, Sri Raja Suraneni Venkata Papaiah Rao College of Education and a host of other educational institutions worked under the aegis of SKPVV Hindu High School Committee. The Hindu High School Educational Institutions management committee vice-president Uppala Sambasiva Rao, B.Ed College convener K. L. Narayana Rao, and principal G.
