Handball championships

BANGALORE: Advdas Club, Shimoga, under the auspices of the Karnataka Handball Association will conduct the fourth mini and seventh sub-junior State handball championships for boys and girls in Shimoga on April 14 and 15.

The championships will be the basis for selecting the State mini boys and sub-junior girls for the Nationals. For details call M.K. Nagendra, Hon. Secretary, Karnataka Handball Association at 6637308 or email: mknagendra@vsnl.com.

Ashok shines

Ashok's 83 helped BEML Sports Club Mysore score 133 for four in reply to ASC Centre's 281in a KSCA Group II, first division league match that concluded in a draw here on Thursday.

The scores: ASC Centre 281 for nine in 48 overs (Dinesh 77, Abhu Eric 66) drew with BEML Sports Club, Mysore 133 for four in 46 overs (Ashok 83).

HAL SC 277 in 54.5 overs (Sambaji 47, D. Ramesh 42) drew with Syndicate Bank 80 for one in 30 overs (Raghottam Navali 40 n.o.).

Sreenivas triumphs

Sreenivas emerged champion in the `top-ten' segment of the Hosur Chess Academy's monthly chess tournament held here recently. Prathap secured the second spot.

Other winners: Under-8: Amritham; Under-10: Priyadarshini; Under-12: Naveen; Under-14: Abhay; Under-16: Ganesh.
