Lucknow: Situation was under control in Thakurganj and Chowk areas of the Uttar Pradesh capital where two groups clashed during Milad-un-Nabi procession on April 1 even as curfew continued for the fifth day on Thursday, a police official said. After suspending two policemen for their alleged laxity in controlling the situation, the district administration has identified some more officers who were absent from their duties, SSP Jyoti Narain said. Police and RAF personnel were maintaining strict vigil in the area and curfew would continue till the situation normalises, the SSP said. As the nomination process has started here for the fifth phase, police officers said they did not want to take any chance. PTI
