ETAWAH: The rickshaw pullers in Uttar Pradesh seem to have benefited the most from the Election Commission's restrictions on spending money in the run-up to the upcoming State Assembly polls with most of the candidates preferring this cheaper mode of transport for campaigning. ``Some of us are getting as much as Rs.400 per day. If they want music and slogans, it is extra. We also sport the party flag and paint our faces in the party colours,'' said Ramlal Nigam, a rickshaw puller from Bharthana, the constituency of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Jeeps and cars used in campaigning earlier are absent from the roads this time here and hoardings are being removed by the Administration. In such a scenario, candidates are banking on rickshaws to get across to the masses. ``We need special permission from the Election Commission for every vehicle used in the campaigning. For all reasons, rickshaws are our best bet now. These can even enter narrow lanes and are very cheap,'' said Shishupal Yadav, a candidate from Jaswant Nagar . The rickshaw services are available in various packages. -- PTI
