BERHAMPUR: Tussle between the BJD and the BJP after panchayat polls has intensified in Ganjam district. It has led to mudslinging by both the parties. At the crux of the tussle is BJD chairperson of Ganjam Zilla Parishad Dharanidhar Behera and State BJP Yuva Morcha president Bibhuti Jena. Supporters of both the leaders clashed at Golanthara police station and blocked NH 5 at two places on Tuesday last. Tussle intensified following a press meet by Berhampur ZP president of BJP Bijay Samal, where BJP leaders made grave allegations against BJD activists, including Mr. Behera. Mr. Samal alleged that BJD leaders, including Mr. Behera, had links with illicit liquor mafia active in the area adjoining Andhra Pradesh.
