Plaque unveiled

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee unveiled the plaque of a road here in the Capital on Thursday named after Ahmed Shah Massoud, who paved the way for democracy and liberation in Afghanistan.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was also present at the function organised in the Diplomatic Enclave at Chanakyapuri. Known as "the Lion of Panjsheer", Massoud is credited with having created an administration and legal system which remains unique in Afghanistan's history.

Opposed to terrorist activities, Massoud stressed the need for maintaining friendly relations with others, but also vehemently opposed to being oppressed.
